The story of my family
The story of the Joneses who came from North Wales and of the Wilsons and the Pearsons of North Yorkshire and Teesside.
This document 'The story of my family' was compiled by my father's brother Trevor Wilson Jones (1916-1990) in the early 1970s with later revisions, and adapted for the web by myself, Mark Robert Nicolas Jones in 2006. All personal references therefore relate to Trevor. References to the living (where known) have been removed unless permission for inclusion has been granted. Any family tree can be confusing, the moreso with a common names like Jones and Wilson arriving from different branches (also Hughes and Sadler), and a tendency to recycle first names. To try and help clarify the situation I have highlighted names of family members where they have first appeared on any page, and have constructed fragments of the family tree in the margin, relating to the key members mentioned on the page. Any errors here are likely to be my responsibility. Where I can deduce from the text a date to within one year (e.g. date of birth from an age at death) I have prefixed it with a tilde so: ~1703. Greater uncertainty is marked with a question mark ? 'Before 1809' and 'after 1830' are shown as <1809 and 1830< respectively. Abbreviations used: b. = born or baptised (baptism would usually follow soon after birth but might be the next year); m. = married; d. = died. Information added to the history from sources not available to Trevor is generally shown in italics. Use the menu on the left to navigate. Trevor's illustrations and old family photographs, where they appear, can be viewed enlarged in a separate window by clicking on the image. All map links are to modern maps from www.multimap.com and open in a new window. If you have information to add to this story, or corrections to be made, please email mark@enile.co.uk. |
