Appendix D: The Family of Josiah Hughes of Nannerch

(See Chapter 4)

Josiah Hughes, the second son of Benjamin (b.1738, son of Thomas, 'clergyman' ~1703-1777 and Mary ~1705-1793) and Elizabeth Hughes, was a farmer at Plos Nannerch. He was born in 1774 and in 1803 he married Elizabeth, the daughter of John and Dorothy Jones of Cilcoin. He died in 1860, aged 86; and she died in 1863, aged 79.

Note: There are one or two unexplained discrepancies between the children's ages as calculated from the parish registers and those shown in the census returns for the years 1841-1861. The dates shown above are those recorded in the parish registers.
